- Burnt the top and bottom of a spoon to match that of a real life Heroin spoon.
A small amount of sugar was also placed on the spoon and held over a naked flame to create the effect of burnt residue on it.
- 2 identical knives were bought: one for Sean to hold in wider shots and the other with its blade removed for the stabbing scene and for shots where the knife is inside someone.
- 2 identical shirts were bought: one had a bloodstain painted onto it with red food colouring for the final two scenes, and the other was left untouched.
- Pizza Leaflet: I found an image of a random pizza leaflet online and replaced the logo and details with that of The Unreal Pizza Co. along with some hidden Easter eggs in the rest of the leaflet.
To make the logo itself I looked at other British pizza companies' logos.
A common trend among them is the use of the colour red and the inclusion of the product they are marketing: pizza. What surprised me was that there wasn't any physical presence of a pizza in any of the logos, I saw this as my starting point.
"The red colour stimulates appetite because of its effects on our metabolism, making red a popular colour choice among fast-food restaurants." [Rao, 2011: 266]
This clears up the reason as to why this colour is used so much so it was the one chosen for the font. The font itself was a simplistic handwritten-style to create the impression that it was actually done by hand, a suggestion towards the personal touch each pizza has. Although this logo will barely be in film it's good to make it as convincing as possible for the believability of the false world that Sean is unaware he's in.
- The Beer Bottles: The logo was comprised of a photo of James holding up a bottle to the camera and some hills and a sunset put together and stuck to an empty bottle by our D.O.P.
