I first began to think about what I wanted to do for my major project during the summer after finishing our first year. I wanted to start thinking about it early on so I could have a long development cycle to get a polished idea ready to work on. My creative process requires this for me to fully understand what I want to create and how I want to portray it.
A long development cycle allows my idea to change naturally without having to rush and my idea is never solid after the first conception (something that has always been the case for me). My idea always changes and scenes come and go during the process to become a cohesive idea I’m happy to produce. Another reason is to give me time to look for any possible plot holes or mistakes I have made in the dialogue, settings or even something that reduces the story’s credibility.
My initial idea was a 6-part TV series titled ‘Grit’ about two university students who decide to get involved with drug dealing. This leads to them getting into trouble with a dealer and they end up owing him money. I had envisioned the show to be quite dark and gritty, which is how the title came about since the word ‘Grit’ summed up the show and rang off the tongue nicely.
The plot would follow the point of view of both the protagonists as one gradually gets more and more corrupted. This leads to several fallings out and disagreements as one wants to quit but the other wants to continue selling drugs.

Alternate version of the story. |

An idea I had to introduce something different to the film. |

Some random scenes |

Even more random scenes |
These are all the notes I have on the idea: I did have more but I must have deleted them when the idea changed.
